A Day Trip To Pulau Ketam
Wazzup guys. In this blog, We would like to share with you about our trip to Pulau Ketam (in English, they called it Crab Island). This is small island located near to Port Klang, Selangor, Malaysia. We went there in October 2021 (that time, the whole world is still battling with Covid-19). To go to Pulau Ketam, you need to get a ferry from South Port Passenger Terminal (Port Klang).
Return ticket (ferry) to Pulau Ketam is about RM20 and will take about 30 to 45 minutes to reach Pulau Ketam (from Port Klang South Port Passenger Terminal. For those who cant’t stand hot weather, there is an option of airconditioned boat also (but, not sure about the price).
Pulau Ketam is actually fishermen’s village (no beach here) and most of the residents here are Chinese. If you want to have fresh seafood, you can come here as there are so many seafood restaurant around here. The food price is here is reasonable and the taste is good. Unlike the usual island, Pulau Ketam is built out of necessity for the fishermen who fish at this area. It is called Pulau Ketam (or in english, we called it Crab Island) because there are tons of little crabs walking around the muddy plains here.
Best Activity Here : Riding Electric Bicycle!
The first thing we do when we arrive at Pulau Ketam is booking their electric bicycle. We arrive at Pulau Ketam around 12pm. So, before we go for lunch, we will spend around two hours to explore the island. If Im not mistaken, we can book an electric bicycle for RM30 (2 hours). You dont have to worry as there are a lot of electric bicycle for you to select.
After two hours exploring the island, only then we go for lunch around 3PM. As mention earlier, most of the restaurant here is Chinese restaurant with fresh seafood. The price is reasonable. for 3 people like us, we only pay about RM100 – Rm150 for seafood (with rice). *But to be honest, one thing that I think they need to improve is about their public toilet. Since there are a lot of visitors and tourists, they need to build more public toilet.
For those who didnt bring much cash, you dont need to worry because we can find Maybank in Pulau Ketam. (the only bank /ATM machine in Pulau Ketam).
Around 5PM, we need walk to the jetty to take boats back to Port Klang. The last boat from Pulau Ketam to Port Klang is around 5PM – 6PM (if you missed, then you need to check in to a hotel and go back to jetty the next day).
How To Go to Pulau Ketam, Port Klang
If you’re from Kuala Lumpur, you can search for South Port Passenger Terminal, Port Klang. You can buy ticket from there (no need for booking). From that ferry terminal, it will take up to 30 minutes to reach Pulau Ketam by ferry/boat.
If you’re tourist and dont have car, you can take KTM Komuter train from KL Sentral (Kuala Lumpur) to reach the Port Klang station. It will take about one hour to arrive at Port Klang KTM station. From that KTM station, you need to walk for 5 to 10 minutes to arrive at the jetty (South Port Passenger Terminal).
